Grow confident, culturally grounded reo Māori capability—at work, during work hours.
Level 2 shifts learners from guided participation towards more independent workplace communication. Participants extend vocabulary and sentence construction, refine pepeha and mihi, practise short conversations and integrate environmental language, time, weather, maramataka and local context into their reo. The course is underpinned by language accuracy, fluency, cultural integrity and language vitality.

Kaimahi who have completed Te Reo ki Tua Level 1 or have equivalent foundational language capability.

What this course covers
Whāinga Paetae | Course Objectives
Across the programme, participants will:
Reinforce accurate pronunciation and build greater flow, confidence and independence in spoken reo M?ori.
Expand workplace vocabulary and use singular, plural, descriptive, locative and possessive structures accurately.
Give instructions, make requests and communicate about workplace processes using culturally appropriate language.
Refine pepeha and mihi so they can be delivered with greater authenticity, tone and contextual awareness.
Ask and answer common questions and participate in short, structured conversations with colleagues and stakeholders.
Use te reo M?ori to communicate about time, seasons, weather, place and environmental observations.
Explore maramataka and M?ori environmental knowledge in relation to planning, wellbeing and kaitiakitanga.
Use whakatauk?, k?waha and figurative language appropriately to enrich professional communication.
Integrate te reo M?ori more consistently into meetings, written communication and team practice.
Model and encourage confident language use within teams while maintaining respect for iwi knowledge and local tikanga.

Course Dates
Courses commence during the week of Monday 24 August 2026. The indicative final teaching week is the week of 19 October 2026.
Class Option 1:
Tuesday: 3.30pm - 5.00pm
CLass Option 2
Wednesday: 5.30pm - 7.00pm
Participants enrol in one stream. Where space permits, learners may attend the alternative stream when they cannot attend their usual class.
